40 Can’t Beat The Big Waves? Learn How To SurfSurfing is an exciting sport whereby a person rides on waves in the ocean or sea. However, it can also be very dangerous for a person who has no experience. It is therefore important that one learns how to surf before heading out to the sea for some surfing action.

The learning process is fairly simple and can take a very short time. However, before a person can start learning, he must be in a good their health condition. There are no restrictions on the age of the learners but persons under 18 years of age must obtain a written consent from their parents or guardians.

The following are some simple steps that can be followed by a beginner:

• Select a surfing board that suits you best. Beginners are advised to select boards that are large since they are relatively easy to manage.

• Select a spot that is not too crowded and the waves are relatively small. In this way, your safety will not be compromised.

• Practice how to move while on dry ground. Practice moving in a standing position on the board to lying down, by putting the hands on the sand. Place the arms flat on sand then stand by pulling the feet up. This can be done until you feel ready to do it in the water.

• Make alternating strokes to paddle out. Push on the board and allow water to pass in between the board and the chest.

• Ride a number of waves while lying on the surf board. By doing so, all fear will slowly melt away as you gain confidence. You will feel the intensity and strength of the waves and you will be able to determine at which point its best to stand on the board.

• Once you’ve determined the strength of the wave, stand on the surfboard and paddle up to the time when the wave increases in intensity. This should be done as practiced on dry land earlier on.

• Move along the wave. The angle you take will mostly be determined by the wave size. While riding the wave, bend the knees to lower the center of gravity when making turns.

Once you have gained the confidence to take on small waves, practice for some time you may work your way to surfing bigger waves. Learning how to surf the bigger waves in this case will not present a big challenge and can take a very short time.

Learning how to surf will prove very rewarding since this sport is full of thrill and refreshes the surfer as they ride on the waves.
