Surfing North American Beaches as a sport did not start here, but the sport has been adopted as a part of the North American beach activities. Southern California is the place it all started, when in the 1900 the Duke and George Freeth got to surf these famous waves. The surf culture developed as a result of the pioneers who make the history of California Surfing. It is the place where new innovation and modern surf technology emanate even today, with amicable board designs and wet suit research.
Surfing North American Beaches became the culture of the seaside by the ‘50s courtesy of the motion pictures focus. It is at this time that the surfing sport exploded into the number one activity around the beaches in a magnitude unimaginable. There were flip flops being won and development of board shorts as the board manufacturers in California started selling boards outside the State. The sport was fast becoming the number one activity in New Jersey and Virginia Beach where the boards were being exported in truck loads from California.Initially, lots of boards were found lifeless along the beach as props for individuals who were after a surfing image. The dedicated pioneers made east coast their playground as they immersed themselves in surf discoveries that are felt to this day. In west coast surfing is arguably the most consistent, but the surf spots in east coast wield the entire spectrum in terms of variety.
Surfing North American Beaches, mostly on the west coast was taken to new heights around this time. There were new developments in board shapes with creative designs being tested as better surf breaks were put into use. There were surfing pioneers venturing within the extremes of the coast. It is from this that the Baja Peninsula easily became a holiday surf destination where many surfers from Southern California converged. Many other pioneers made it to the Pacific North-west where surfing was spreading like a bush fire. The wetsuit technology has been improving everyday and surfers started moving slowly to empty waves which were found north along the coastlines of Canada. The discovery rages on, as the surfers are slowly moving into new surf areas in Alaska.
Surfing North American Beaches can now be experienced along the cool waters of North East to the extremes of the Mid-Atlantic and the beaches of Florida. It is the number one holiday activity in these beaches.
